Mirror Jane
05:11
|
|||
Jane goes to sleep in the back of my car
she is mute and disheveled all under the stars
that are twinkling irreverent to illuminate scars
on this widow hatched, trailer trash, angel of god
And her window is down so the breeze blows her hair
to feel light as a feather that swirls in the air
Lost... never landing... where current is king
Little fuck puppet freeing herself from her strings
In the road-way-hum
we are falling together
And the headlight flow looks like
ghost tears from heaven.
Jane takes a much deeper look at herself
A ripped up old raggedy Anne on the shelf
that was put away torn in some bully boy's room
half wrapped up in spider web, cat pissed and strewn
Little ghost child she stares
just a while out the window.
Then she drifts back off
in the warmth of dream's halo
She woke for a little while
looks all around
A face in my mirror smiles
We're so far from town
Somebody somewhere must know what she means
when she says that she's sinking more into that dream
that she's not really here nor has she ever been
she's just muddled thought, manifest, in god's brain obscene
And then silenced all so
that no one will hear her
A lost heart beat
just outside of the mirror
We just arrived yesterday
and for a short while
we have a safe place to stay
we turn off the light
And we both lay down in the same place together
Just two lost coins in the same box of treasure
Yeah we both lay down in the same place together
Two lost coins in the same box of treasure
And we all lay down in the same place together
We are all lost coins in the same box of treasure
Till we all lay down in the graveyards together
we are all lost souls in the halls of forever.
Jane falls asleep in the back of my car

Star Falls
05:51
|
|||
I have wandered blind into your garden
through a door, lost inside the dead of light
And I don't know if you can feel my spirit
watching you, sleeping in the morning light
And I don't want to get used to this
I need to get over it, long enough to say goodnight
And I just need to get over it, somehow I must forget
to wake up on the other side
We are both but wanderers of forests
dreaming souls, slip between those rings of light
Strung out on the lawns of black heart mansion
sunshine dreams, beneath the patterns of the butterfly
And I could really get used to this,
lost in your morning kiss. Lost inside your summer eyes.
And I May not get over this, but no star falls without a wish
way up in this pauper's sky
Come with me
oh daughter of the Woodlocks
reach to me through the
crackle of the dying mind
May we fall
angels from dark heavens
courtesans, pulsing through
the dance of life... pulsing, pulsing.
And you, you will get over this
when stars fall without a wish
just reach out to another light
And you, you will get over us
words spoken without trust
that's how we tell our favorite lies

Window 'Neath The Stars
03:59
|

And when the morning came
to find you with its light
That's when I found I only
dreamed of you last night
Now I wonder where you are
if you're alright
fairy fluttering through your storm
with your bracelets and your charms
I could never do you harm
There were times I thought
the world was on my side
like when I saw my own
reflection in your eyes
We fell into each other's arms
and then we lie
Two spirits glowing in the night
with all the holy of the psalm
I will never do you wrong
And when the shadows come
to bury me tonight
Should you wonder where I am
I am alright
Though I wish that we could
in my window 'neath the stars
so I could melt into your heart
I will never do you wrong

I was in a place that I could not name
I was on my own, lost upon my way
to a place I'd never seen before.
And the path was long and the moon hung low
When I heard a voice on the radio
The golden sigh of a broke heart singer
Sometimes the pauper is the poet
Sometimes the fool is wise
Sometimes the joker seems to know it
He was in a place that he tried to name
Just an orphan child in the pouring rain
with a heart so old it was made by angels
In his tower room writing holy songs
that were so beautiful the devil sang along
His spirit soared above the weeper
Sometimes the blossom breaks its branches
Sometimes the angels cry
Sometimes your father is a phantom
I didn't know you before they hung you from your halo
But somehow I knew you couldn't last for long, Save for song.
So if you're in a place that you cannot name
And you're all alone, lost upon your way
to a place you've never seen before
If your path seems long and the moon is low
You might hear the voice of some holy ghost
It's the golden sigh of the broke heart singer
Sometimes the silence is not golden.

We were really messed up
still we hung out all night
at blacksmith bar where all is forgiven
Shadows plotting our fate
but we were too tired to wait
we both fell deep into each other
The band played sad jamboree
as you were looking at me
with eyes like holy past life lovers
And so we slipped off to your room
there beneath the stars
'cause that's just what you're supposed to do
on nights when Venus kisses Mars
I was really strung out
I left her sleeping
in the shadows cast by street lights
through her window
I left my ghost in her room
I walked up 5th avenue
through morning faces
that know no happy ending
She stirs alone in her bed
the empty bottles, no more stars
just window taps from outside branches
I sleep it off, I fix a drink
and then I'm back out with the boys
We play our songs, we move along
so much for filling up the void
I'd love to stay and comfort you
or maybe find out who you are
Oh but instead, I'll write this song
and call it "Venus Kissing Mars"
She was really messed up
she sat up drinking all alone
on roof top, heartbeats still remember
She's still that same little girl
but now abandoned
laying strung out crying
heartbeat cold December
Up in the chimney smoke
she raised her glass
silent toasts, to ghost of lovers
fade like embers
She's found her place back in her room
watching late night movie shows
It's true these dreams are not her own
but that's all you've got when dreams are gone
He's found his place, out on the streets
back home with anyone he meets
But he will leave them with a smile
if they don't let it get too deep
To boys still hanging out in bars
To girls still trapped behind the stars
On nights like this, we long for bliss
that's only Venus Kissing Mars

If I had a million I know that I'd be free
said the ugly voice inside of thee
Or if you hit the big time girl
well maybe then they'd see
that there's something beautiful in thee
Something that's so beautiful, it's spiritual
it's animal, it's anything it needs to be
It's raven clawed, it's tentacled
it's writhing on its pedestal
unfolding inside of thee
When I took a moment
just to watch you on your stage
you're a child that dances 'round its grave
I hide behind the candle
in the corner of the room
and I try to dream us far away
'cause I don't want to see you
in a state of feigned relations
bending holy to stranger's smiles
For soon there'll come a night
your golden light will turn against you
you'll be pulled to the other side
If they lived forever still
they'd never live to see
all the pain that's there inside of thee
If they'd turn the lights out here
then everyone agrees
that there's something wrong inside of me
It butterflies in faces
then goes fluttering cross stages
orchestrating the coming days
So gather 'round my childhood friends
we all know how the story ends
so nobody turn the page. . . .
