I can see you standing in a stream long reflections flowing back to me orange pollen gathers 'round your knees and thighs and swirls a lullaby to float down stream to another stream Leaves float by and cover up the sunny sky Leaves float by and cover up your sunny eyes There is nothing here that I can do My direction cannot pull you through Watch the world go swirling into you then out, to flow, to somewhere new to flow away, to somewhere new Leaves float by and cover up the sunny sky Leaves float by and cover up your sunny eyes

just got a letter, from my friend Izzy sent me a lyric to which i'll set a melody he sends me postcards from places that he's seen newspaper clippings, old rock star magazines he glued his photo inside and he said we'd make it high enough to see you'll never blow it, no, got no reason now just why i can't believe... my friend Izzy just got a red book, from my friend Izzy called "Bicycle Compost", says, just save your money said take it slow with everything you ever need don't wait for holidays, except of course for Halloween or for the next time we write i've seen everything and most i can ignore except the sunshine and the moonlight and the pain (yes i see you in your raincoat walking) my friend Izzy just got a letter, from my friend Izzy remember the bread man, how we turned the lights off they just screamed and we were running and feeling everything and in those moments and in those moments you believed and in those moments you believed

about

"Kyte is more from the deep vault of Damien Youth/Robyn Nice projects, and while it's not as distinctive as the Surprise Symphony and Magic Island records the pair have done, it can be easily recommended to those listeners who like those records. For the most part this hovers around the folkier side of the duo's post-Syd Barrett-isms, with that rich, dark psych folk brew typical of their work. If they, like Barrett, sound somewhat depressed and hermetic in their retreat into fuzzy inner landscapes, they don't sound quite bummed out enough to be of danger to themselves or others. It's music to play on rainy autumn days when someone you want to be around isn't here. And there are plenty of such rainy days in England, a country these songs reflect in their melodic folkiness, no matter that Damien Youth has used Louisiana as his base. The folkiness is more in the matter of song structure than instrumentation, actually, since there's plenty of organ and piano, with occasional beguiling electronic effects. "The Cage" sounds especially Pink Floydian in its acoustic guitar-organ combo. By contrast, "Colonies" has the kind of overmodulated fuzz blasts that make you rush to turn the stereo down, especially in this context, where most of the tracks are so gentle and low-key.
