And the reason we laugh is for one day we'll cry
Like the reason we live is for one day we'll die
And the reason we give is for one day we'll steal
Here's a song for a world that can't feel
She was once a good friend of mine
we would gather up stones
and we'd laugh all the time
She'd paint pictures
and maps of the stars
and her eyes
would fill up the night
She was once a lover of mine
we would sit in her garden
drink all her wine
Blow out candles then
talk about god in the dark
Then we'd sleep in the yard
And the reason we laugh is for one day we'll cry
Like the reason we live is for one day we'll die
And the reason we give is for one day we'll steal
Here's a song for a world that can't feel
Winter came and it carried no torch
it just fogged up the windows
and stood on the porch
The flower she planted is
hiding its face as it bends
and dies in the wind
And the lantern lit up our room
as we drew all the tarots
and cast all the runes
then she'd take down her hair
and she'd lay in my arms
because that's where she belonged
And the reason we laugh is for one day we'll cry
Like the reason we live is for one day we'll die
And the reason we give is for one day we'll steal
Here's a song for a world that can't feel
She was once a soul mate of mine
until she packed up her clothing
her books and her wine
Wrote me a note that said
"Oh, honey don't cry, but I can't say goodbye"
And the sun went down early that day
as the stars came out twinkling
like demons at play
and tears fill my eyes when I
think of the words you can't say
...why did you go away?"
And the reason we laugh is for one day we'll cry
Like the reason we live is for one day we'll die
And the reason we give is for one day we'll steal
Here's a song for a world that can't feel

Dear god I said I'm sorry
but you know you really hurt me
I was only trying to hold you
to give warmth not to control you
No I didn't mean to scare you
I was only trying to tell you
that we're near the final chapter
of our days of love and laughter
It's the end
goodbye my fair weather friend
It's the end.
In the sunlight you are with me
through the starlight to tomorrow
when the rain comes I can't find you
I'm beneath the clouds forgotten.
And the world is getting older
and our eyes are growing weary
and our final words are spoken
and the hourglass is empty
No more angle songs to call you
no more poems to exalt you
I don't want to be remembered
burn my poetry and letters
It's the end,
goodbye my fair weather friend
It's the end.
And at last the world seduced you
yes it stole you from my slumber
Now you're going with those people
who just want to pull you under
It's the end
goodbye my fair weather friend
It's the end
I've been walking down the back streets
I've been crying in the shadows
I've been hiding in my diary
but this is my final chapter
Dear god I said I'm sorry
but you know you really hurt me
I was only trying to hold you
to give warmth not to control you... it's the end

I was raised on Jesus Christ
and I was told how he gave up his life
As a child, I would pray at night
and I would swear, I felt protected by his holy light
I believed in his holy book
though I confess I never much gave it a look
but I was told of the glorious stories within
filled me full of hope, kept me safe in a world full of sin
And I believed that this was the end of the world
Yes I believed that this was the end of the world
I was born 1965, in the united states
the land of the immaculate lie
and I have grown, to realize
all that I looked forward to, wasn’t real
it was false, it was part of the lie
Like Santa Claus, Superman
Sacred Cross, Holy Lamb
Satan and Peter Pan
The soul of the dying man
Cops and Cathedrals
TV’s & Angels
Serpents that speak
and the garden of Eden
Church and society
Alcohol, LSD
Movie stars, Athletes
Politics and Charities
Your preacher and confessor
is a child molester
and they fall to his feet
but he won’t turn the other cheek
and we were born with a crown of thorns
and nails through our hands and our feet
as the earth consumes without empathy
the bodies of all who believe
Jesus Christ, tell me please
we’ve only got one thing to pray
Why give a life to human being
if you're just going to take it away
I was raised on Jesus Christ
and I was told it was he who had given me life
But the truth be known, I was an accident
It wasn’t love or affection
or immaculate conception
It was a beast with an erection
and a woman who bled on the sheets
and I realize, there’s one thing that’s waiting on me
It isn’t heaven or hell, It’s just a box and a veil
and a man in a suit that tells lies as I’m lowered in the ground
... is this the end of the world?
... Is this the end of the world?
