lyrics
Late one night by chance I spied
a stranger, yet familiar guy
Twas distant down an alleyway
half shadow cast all black and grey
The night was thick with humming wires
street lamps swayed to touch the spires
Bedroom windows dimmed like ember
in December’s frown
Pre legendary then
my phantom friend
Still lurking 'round the bin
in street light dim
my phantom friend
Amidst the poetry of night
a staggering form, no fancy flight
did wander, thus did intersect
distracting me as I reflect
Like exclamation out of place
he steered his form to match my pace
I turned too late, he’s at my side,
though drunk, doth syncopate my stride
Dare not glance peripheral
to not see what’s visible
beyond what I could perpetrate
increase my pace
I deviate.
Racing running
my lair swelling in my sight
Up the stairway
turning on my bedroom light
footsteps echo
down the dusty corridors of night
Down the hallway
closing all the curtains
and I block the doorways
still I hear him coming
Breathing, stumbling
slow across the floors.
And as I opened up my door
to search the dusty corridors
A phantom standing, not quite clad
save railway boots and cowboy hat
With flannel shirt and blue jean vest
just looming there all Rogeresque.
Phantom friend
A true hidden treasure of a song writer. This gent has been capturing songs in demo form on old tape recorders since the 80s. . . and he's still capturing his magic sounds in his secret basement. Damien Youth

Excellent medieval folk, IGR, & those with ears to hear. I love the sense of mysticism and deep, introspective ponder this album conveys, & the honest down-to-earth folky lyrics. Simply wonderful yet soulfully rich. Highlights for me are tracks 2, 5, 6, & 12. IGR truly capture what I feel is an authentic sense of a medieval bard at a woodland rill pondering the mysteries of life. Highly recommended. 8.5+/10. Alrihkh

Done in medieval, wyrdfolk and psychedelic style, there is a deep bell to open and close the recording. An allegorical tale using alchemy as a backdrop, it is very pastoral and haunting. Some instruments included are viola, nyckelharpa, and dulcimer, along with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and percussion. The phantasmagoric story that ensues once the vocals begin is best listened to from start to finish for full effect. Favourite Track: The Serpent Nickie Harte Kelly
