Back in 2000, when sorting through live recordings, selecting one to make available, I kept going back to the Circle Bar shows. Some of the live recordings we'd captured in other venues were better quality recordings, the audiences were better, warm moments captured... still, there's something for the voyeur in this recording. It captures a sad smokey night filled with a few DY listeners, along with a bar room of regulars, street performers, prostitutes, career barflies and random shirtless people visiting from Florida... a perfect setting for background folk songs about space aliens, ghost girls, teenage junkies, hate sex and twin gendered gods. :-)
